With the good yields and returns obtained by the Growers, mungbeans are definitely on the agenda for a 2010 spring plant. Coupled with this, growers are seeing how well the country is responding after having mungbeans planted. Spring contracts are available for growers already, making this an excellent cropping option.
Expect a good plant if we have rising soil temperatures and rain to finish the profile.Prices are expected to come back off the highs we are seeing at the end of the summer crop for spring planted beans, saying this, prices are still expected to be firm with reasonable returns expected. Spring contracts are being offered already that reflect this. The summer harvest is moving through the system quite well, container and shipping space out of Australia is still a problem for the summer harvest but will be better for the spring harvest.
Buying interest is still firm for the December / January shipments.
